This report is comprised of two-volumes providing a detailed view of digital central
office switching throughout the entire world. The first volume contains a detailed
textual description of each world class central office switch system in a standard
format followed by a highly formatted technical specification section for each
system. The second volume of the report provides an analysis of the installed
and on-order position of switching systems by country, operator and application,
as well as a detailed summary of the digital switching systems installed and on-order
for each manufacturer. It also provides a shipment forecast for the year 1998
and 1999 - the first time we have provided such forecasts in this report series.
Additionally, volume 2 provides guidance to Telecom Operators on switch procurement,
deployment and network architectural strategies. The geographic scope
covers some 260 countries, territories, and provinces. The switch supplier scope
includes both current manufacturers of switching systems and those that operate
under a different name primarily due to acquisitions or consolidation of central
office switch suppliers. It covers some 46 switching systems from 26 suppliers
worldwide. The scope of commercial switching trends covered includes technical,
application, marketing strategy, supplier structure, and telecom operator procurement
practice trends. | | | |
