PRESS RELEASE

NEW STUDY FROM Dittberner INDICATES TOTAL INDEPENDENT SOFTWARE VENDOR REVENUES SIZABLY HIGHER THAN CLAIMED BY OTHER TELECOM CONSULTANTS.

Release date and time: 12:00 noon, January 10, 2003.

Bethesda, MD – According to the new study “Dittberner Perspective Edition 47: Support Systems for Next Generation Networks” just completed by Dittberner Associates, Inc., the Total Worldwide Independent Software Vendor Revenues from Public Network Telecom Service Provider was more than $11.9 billion in the latest 2001-2002 fiscal year period. The report also reveals that system integrator revenues were significantly higher than had been previously asserted by other consultants. The revenue contribution to system integrators from public network telecommunication service providers were found to be some $17.5 billion in the same time frame.

Further, according to Mr. Donald Dittberner, president of Dittberner Associates, “The total revenues from public network telecommunication service providers worldwide in the latest fiscal year of these vendors approached $44.4 billion, including hardware sales, systems integration and consulting, outsourcing, and prepackaged software. This finding is dramatically higher than has generally been acknowledged in the investment community”. He further adds that, “We carefully analyzed 136 software vendors, 27 major systems integrators, and 18 major telecom equipment manufacturers involved in the OSS/BSS arena, in order to arrive at these conclusions.” The study indicates that a total worldwide revenue of independent software vendors constituted some US$11.9 billion for the latest fiscal year (2001-2002). This includes revenue contributions for OSS/BSS hardware, consulting and systems integration (primarily adaptations or tailoring of prepackaged software), outsourcing revenues, and finally the prepackaged software license revenues. The following chart gives a breakdown of the latest fiscal year revenues of independent software vendors on a worldwide basis, as presented in the Dittberner report.
